HISTORY

Odin Engineering Ltd. was incorporated in 1989 by Mr Tony Barker BSc Eng. Tony previously worked for Matrix, Eaves and Washbourne and AMT where he gained a wealth of knowledge in designing and manufacturing Broaching Machines. The passion for Broaching gave Tony the incentive to start Odin Engineering Ltd.

The first broaching machine manufactured by was an Odin 16 ton x 1600 in January 1990 destined for Eaton Transmissions in Aycliffe. The quality, service and delivery that Odin offered led Eaton Transmissions onto have a further 3 machines from the Odin broaching range.

In 1991 Tony made the decision to purchase a Waldrich Coburg slideway grinding machine to have another entity to run alongside the broaching. This decision was paramount in giving the company diversity within engineering to follow the market in terms of meeting the need of sub contract grinding.

Throughout the 90’s Tony lead Odin into supplying over 60 new/rebuilt machines, of those 7 were installed into GKN sites.

Over the years the company grew from strength to strength gaining a renowned reputation which drove Odin Engineering Ltd. forward by traditional word of mouth and loyalties of returning customers.

Tony’s daughter Emily Barker joined the company in 2006 as a grinding operator. This recipe of father/daughter combination proved to be a success for Odin. Under the watchful eye of Tony, Emily was mentored in all areas of the company giving her strengths to facilitate within the business.

In 2012 Tony sadly passed away at the age of 60.

Emily Barker has now taken over the running of Odin Engineering. Since the new directorship Odin has diversified into new sectors now supplying new globally renowned manual and CNC machinery.

Odin also supplies abrasives along with Cobra Carbide/Kyocera tooling.
